Masala Brass Kollektiv

The Banda

The Graz-based Masala Brass Kollektiv has been offering a contrasting program to traditional Austrian brass music since 2007. The repertoire, consisting mainly of original compositions and a few self-arranged cover versions, ranges from alternative rock to Balkan, klezmer, funk and jazz to reggae and all imaginable and unimaginable crossovers of these genres. The music band with a difference not only makes music for its own sake, but also supports social initiatives. From 5 to 7 June 2026, the collective will be hosting the fifth edition of the international Urban Brass Festival "Skappa'nabanda!"

Our philosophy

Masala Brass Kollektiv sticker roundThe cornerstones of our philosphy: Openness, collective self-organisation, musical diversity, communal spirit, the pleasure of making music and a cultural and social committment. Our principle of diversity is also evident in our repertoire.

Rarely do we play only on stage: Being mobile and unplugged, we are an all-terrain band that loves to perform on an equal footing with our audience - view Gigs, Festivals & Support.

Our repertoire

Our repertoire consists largely of original compositions and self-arranged cover versions ranging from alternative rock, Balkan beat, klezmer, funk, jazz and reggae to all conceivable – and occasionally unlikely – crossovers of these genres. Being mobile and unplugged, we are an all-terrain band that loves to mingle with and engage the dancing crowd.
